A new PlayStation smartphone?

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Sony Ericsson announced the arrival of their new PlayStation smartphone, to be unveiled in the merry month of March. The smartphone will run on Google’s Android platform, and will run games such as “Guitar Hero” and “Sims 3.” Aesthetics-wise, the phone will sport a 4 inch screen and a slide-out, PlayStation-like controller.

iKit whipped out a cool new case for the iPhone 4 that is called the Chrome with kickstand for the iPhone 4. The case comes in silver, blue, and pink colors for right at $35.

A cool app called Word Lens for the iPhone has debuted. The app lets you take pictures of signs in foreign languages and translates them for you so you know what they say.

Apps share personal details says WSJ, Facebook app update, Best Buy ends restocking fee

The WSJ investigated 101 apps for the iPhone and Android smartphones and found that many of them share personal details with ad firms without asking the user’s permission. The study found that Pandora was one of the apps that shared many details on the user.

The Facebook app for iPhone was updated recently to version 3.3.3. The update adds fixes for crashes and improves chat reliability among other things.

Best Buy has finally killed off the restocking fee it charged for the iPhone. The restocking fee was 10% to return the iPhone and as of this weekend those fees are no more and Best Buy will refund that restocking fee whether you made a return in the last month.

WikiLeaks app pulled, Motz wooden speaker, Apple takes on Flash

Apple has pulled the WikiLeaks unofficial app from the App Sore after a short stint there. The app was added last Friday and pulled sometime today and was intended to let users follow the WikiLeaks Twitter history.

A cool new speaker surfaced that will work with the iPhone called the Motz Tiny Wooden Speaker. As the name implies, the speaker case is made from wood and it has an internal rechargeable battery for playing tunes on the go.

Apple has decided to take on flash with a new iAd producer tool. The tool is described as a “powerful visual editing canvas” for motion-rich iAd subject matter.

If you live where gloves are called for when you go outside you have undoubtedly had a hard day using your iPhone at some point. A new app called NoseDial has surfaced that lets you dial your phone and navigate contacts using your nose.

If you own a 2011 Ford Fiesta, you are the first to get a new update for Ford Sync called AppLink that allows you to use your voice to control your iPhone app. The only compatible app right now is Pandora and once the Sync app is applied to the car your voice can navigate stations and rate songs.

The European Space Agency is talking up tech that will allow headphones and an app on the iPhone to record your heart rate while exercising. Future versions of the tech will additionally be able to record levels of oxygen in the blood all design just wearing your headphones.

I have seen some really weird cases in my day for the iPhone, but this denim jacket case is one of the weirdest. The case is more like a sleeve and is sized to fit the iPhone and other smartphones.

Pioneer has shipped three new high-end Blu-ray players and they all support 3D and have an app for the iPhone or touch. The app allows the iPhone to be used as a full operate remote for the players.

The strangest iPhone/iPod dock ever has surfaced. The dock is built into a personal genome sequencing machine for research functions.

Sister site SlashGear had posted up a review of the cool mophie juice pack plus. The device performance well and adds little bulk making it a good choice whether you need more runtime.

Apple engineers are looking at a cool way to hide the antenna for the iPhone and other devices that need a network connection. They are working on hiding it behind the logo on the device.

Dev-Team is looking for some folks to help them experiment the “backup plan” with redsn0w and the 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak. One of the tester stipulations though is you have to use a Mac.

iGo has announced that it will be showing off new gear at CES 2011. The gear will include a pocket projector that fits smartphones like the iPhone and a charge cable that is small ample for your key ring called KeyJuice.

AT&T has beefed up its WiFi Hot Zones to supply users in Times Square and San Francisco more free coverage for WiFi. The WiFi details use won’t count against you monthly allotments and is offered free of charge to subscribers.

Apple ups Q1 shipment estimates, Hackulous “reverse BitTorrent”, Verizon iPhone Skype docs leak

DigiTimes reports according to sources in Taiwan, Apple is upping the shipment estimates for Q1 2011 for the iPhone. The rumor includes 5-6 million CDMA iPhones to ship that quarter.

Hackulous is a hacker store that offers pirated apps for Jailbroken iPhone users. The developers of the community have announced a new way to upload apps to the community described as a reverse BitTorrent.

Documents that tell Verizon users how to use Skype for the iPhone have leaked. The leaked document is called Skype Mobile for Verizon and the iPhone has towering been rumored to hit the Verizon network in January.
